cactus

Botanic Gardens always has intereting plants on display. Fall decor has taken over the cactus are replaced by pumpkins now.

white cactus flower

A tiny white flower no bigger that a finger nail is blooming on a cactus in the sunroom. I'm just glad something is blooming!

Rat Tail Cactus

The patterns made by the rat tail cactus strands is interesting. Always inspired by the way natural patterns come together.

Late Christmas Cactus

Kept looking for flower blubs to pop up outside, but it's been too cold. But my Christmas Cactus decided it had one more bloom in it! Spring is officially here on the calendar - so I expect something to come up outside now! it is supposed to be in the 50's all next week.

prickly pear

I liked the random lines created by the spines of this Prickly Pear cactus down at the Botanic Gardens. I'm always surprised to see cactus bloom the flower is so delicate but the plant is so hardy and practical.

Moss Rose

Planted a moss rose at the base of a cactus outside. Plant was hanging over edge of the planter and made a nice filigree in the 5 pointed star that the mandala created. Cactus is in the middle, you can see the spines if you look closely.

Cactus Tuna

Cactus tuna (the spent flower pods) add such a beautiful color difference to the green cactus they are almost as colorful as the flowers themselves.  These were in Sedona,AZ.  I also like the star pattern in this mandala. Enjoy!

colorful cactus

Subtle pastel colors on this columnar cactus intrigued me.  You usually think of cactus as green, so to have this variety of brownish hues, coral, and reds caught my eye and made for a pleasing 6-pointed star.

Cactus spires

Cactus spires aspire to the heights.  These looked architectural to me. So I post this in honor of my grandson who likes tall buildings.  Let us all aspire to greater things in the New Year to come!

Red and Green

Christmas colors red and green in the prickly pear tunas and plant. We are in a mild stretch of weather again.  Makes getting out and about much easier on the body!

Prickly Cactus

A very prickly cactus.

purple cactus

Have always loved these prickly pear cactus that shade from purple to a teal green.  Above mandala has mostly the purple parts - it was against a tan adobe wall.

cactus tunas

We took a trip to the southwest, saw cactus and lots of red rock in Sedona.

Fiery pink

What wonderful pastel colors! I looked at the bloom on my outdoor cactus and was amazed at what I saw, the pink was on fire.  Spring is a wonderful time for blooming plants.

prickly pear cactus

Always have loved the lovely red color of the tunas on a prickly pear cactus.

Desert Botanic Gardens

Everything was blooming at the Desert Botanic Gardens in Phoenix, when we were down there at the end of March. Glorious! The yellow tunas on the cactus provided a bright yellow color to the blue and reddish color on the flat pads of another cactus.
