Wolly caterpillar
Looking from afar, it almost looks like a plaid star, but on closer inspection you will find a wolly caterpillar. The weather is changing to cooler. It is September after all. I will be headed off for a weeks vacation, so hope the weather doesn't get too cool. No ice and snow yet, please. I'll have some new pictures to play with when I get back! Monday, September 3, 2007

White Koi
Sometime simple is better. I've gone to a couple garden tours this summer, and always love the ones with ponds. There were several big koi in this pond, I liked the patterns created by the plant shadows acorss the surface and the single white koi. It almost could be a black and white picture, but I do like the touch of green. Sunday, August 26, 2007
signs of fall
The aspen meadow in front of the cabin is starting to show signs of fall, with some plants starting to brown and die. It's always sad for me to know that we won't be going up there much longer. We shut the cabin down the end of September. When I was out walking the dog early on Saturday, I looked up and saw a coyote sitting in the meadow, we were eye-balling each other and Mollie, the dog, did not see or smell the coyote, thank goodness. I snapped a couple pictures, of course. I believe we had coyote scat on the cabin porch, too. It reminds you that we are in the wild up there. Thursday, August 23, 2007
remains of a robin's egg
Getting out of the car one day in the spring, there was a broken robin's egg on the driveway. So inside I went for my camera. The egg was among a twig and some leaves, even the gradations of gray concrete created neat patterns in the middle. We had at least one robin raising young in the area. They liked the berries on the oragan grape plant in my backyard. I had to fish one baby out of the pond, he had ended up on one of the plants, when he got scared by the dog. He let me cup him between my two hands, and I placed him on the fence, where he flew off.Tuesday, August 21, 2007
birds of a feather
You might have to double click on the picture to see the birds - the wires near this one intersection were full of birds on either side of the telephone pole. These birds were like the commercial where the composer is stuck, looks out the window and sees the birds sitting in a musical pattern that allows him to finish his musical composition. I'm not sure what notes these birds would represent, instead we just have a circular composition!
